The Squad · Small-group training for Perth golfers

Hit it further.
Feel better after 18.

Small-group training for golfers who’ve never been in a gym — or haven’t been in years. Six golfers, once a week, run by a PGA Tour chiropractor who works out what’s holding your swing back and trains around any sore spots.

Sound Familiar?

Losing distance every year? Stiff after 18 holes?

The distance is going backwards
You hit it shorter than you did five years ago, and 18 holes leaves you stiff for two days. Age is part of it, but most of the drop is lost speed and mobility — and both can be trained back.
Rotation bites back

A tight lower back, a cranky lead hip, a shoulder you play around. Not an injury yet — but enough to cost you rounds and make you hold something back.

You don't know where to start
Gyms feel like they’re built for someone else, and you’re not sure what’s safe with your back or knees. So you do nothing, and the distance keeps slipping.

"I'm 61 and I'd never set foot in a gym. I nearly didn't come. First session, I was doing the same work as everyone else, just lighter. Three months in, I'm hitting my driver past my mates again and I'm not stiff the next morning."

What an hour looks like

Nothing in the session is there because it looks hard.

Move first
Hips, mid-back and shoulders. Lose range in any of the three and the swing pays for it.
Rotational power
Medicine-ball throws and low-impact jumps, scaled to you. This is where clubhead speed is actually made.
Strength
Squat, hinge, push, pull, carry. Start with bodyweight or light weights, and build week to week.
Speed
Quick, light movements that teach your body to swing faster. Speed doesn’t arrive by accident.
Six people, one coach, everyone working at their own level. Nobody’s keeping score of anyone else, and no one adds weight until the movement looks right. No gym experience needed.
Optional, and worth doing

Find your limiter, then train it.

The Squad program works fine without an assessment. But an hour on force plates and strength-testing equipment, plus an injury screen, tells us exactly where your speed leaks — and turns the squad program into your program inside the group. It’s a one-off, not a subscription, and it’s a chiropractic service — so most extras policies cover part or all of it.

Squad or Gold

Two ways to work. The difference is where your program comes from.

Start Here

The Squad — $150/mo

“I want to start somewhere safe and not feel out of place.”
Your program
Built for the squad and scaled to what you can do in the room.
In person
One supervised session a week, six golfers.
The assessment
Optional. $280 one-off, claimable.
Most Popular

Gold — $280/mo

“I want to know my limiter and fix that exact thing.”
Your program
Built from your own assessment numbers, and rebuilt every 90 days on re-test data.
In person
A supervised session a week plus a private session every month.
The assessment
Included. It’s what the program is built from.

The honest arithmetic. Gold is $130 a month more and includes the $280 assessment. What that buys is a private session every month and a force-plate re-test every quarter. If you’d book those separately anyway, Gold is the cheaper way to get them — and if you wouldn’t, the Squad is the right answer.

Who runs it

Dr Steve — PGA Tour Chiropractor, TPI Level 3

Australia’s highest-qualified TPI medical and fitness instructor, certified Level 3 in Medical, Fitness and Power, a published researcher in golf injuries, and a current chiropractor on the Challenger PGA Tour Australasia.

Why that matters on the gym floor: the person writing your program is also the person qualified to work out whether that lower back is something to train around or something to treat — and to do either.

Questions

The ones people actually ask.

No. Six people, and everyone works at their own level from the first session — plenty start with bodyweight and medicine balls. Nobody is watching anyone else’s weights. The whole point is to train in a way your body can actually absorb.

Yes. Everything here is delivered by a registered chiropractor, so your membership and your assessment can both be claimed against your extras cover. What you get back depends on your fund and how much of your annual limit is left. You get a receipt with the right item numbers after every visit.
Because golf is explosive and rotational, and most gym work is slow and straight. You can add plenty of strength without adding a yard. Here the program is built only for the golf swing, someone watches your form every week, and the aim is speed you can actually deliver into the ball.
No, it’s optional. The Squad program works without it. What it buys you is knowing your own numbers — where the speed leaks, which side is doing the work — so the coaching you get inside the group is aimed at your limiter rather than the average golfer’s.
No. What you’re joining is that one hour, not a gym membership. The program you work through on your own days is written so you can do it at whatever gym you already use, or at home. If you want gym access here between sessions, that comes with Gold — ask Steve.
Tell us about it and come anyway. Steve is a sports chiropractor — assessing that is his day job. Most niggles get trained around rather than rested, and if it needs treating instead, you’ll be told that straight.
No. There’s no swing instruction here. We train the body that has to produce the swing, which usually makes a coach’s work stick, because you can finally hold the positions they’re asking for.
Most people feel the difference in how they move within four to six weeks. Measured change in speed and power takes about 90 days — which is exactly why the minimum term is three months rather than a lock-in tactic.
Let us know and take the other night that week — running Tuesday and Thursday means there’s almost always a way to catch up. If you’re away, you still have the program to work through on your own.
Three months minimum, then month to month. Three months is the shortest window in which a real change in your numbers is likely — committing to less would mean selling you something we can’t prove.

Free parking directly out the front, and free street parking around Oxford Street if the front is full. Comfortable clothes, runners, and a water bottle — that’s it.
